Global venture capital investment has gained significant momentum in 2026, although a closer look at where the funding is going reveals an interesting shift in the market.
According to Crunchbase’s latest quarterly report, global venture funding reached $159 billion in Q3 2026, representing a 53% increase compared to the same period last year. Much of this growth, however, has been driven by a relatively small number of companies, with a record 27 startups raising rounds of $1 billion or more and accounting for approximately one-third of global venture investment.
AI continues to attract a substantial share of investor attention, receiving $102 billion, or 64% of total funding during the quarter. At the same time, late-stage investment reached $105 billion, up 73% year-on-year, suggesting that investors are increasingly committing significant capital to more established businesses.
While these figures point to a strong venture capital market, they also raise questions about how funding opportunities are distributed beyond the largest companies and most prominent sectors. For growth-stage businesses with proven commercial traction, attracting the right investors remains an important consideration, particularly in a market where a handful of exceptionally large transactions account for such a significant share of overall activity.
This is where Venturebeam has a role to play. By bringing together established growth-stage companies and investors through structured screening and fundraising processes, we aim to support access to investment opportunities that might otherwise receive less attention in an increasingly concentrated market.
As venture investment continues to grow, ensuring that capital can reach a broader range of promising businesses will be just as important as the headline figures themselves.
